Rachel grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of a car salesman and a police officer. As a child, she had dreams of writing and acting, but her parents encouraged her to follow her interest in science. In 2000, she found herself graduating with a Doctorate in Pharmacy and moving to Albuquerque, NM to begin what would become a twenty-year career as a hospital pharmacist.
But her creative ambitions, though dormant, followed her out west. And after a chance meeting with Kevin Costner, she began acting and performing stand-up. Not wanting to live a life of quiet desperation, she quit her job and moved to Los Angeles, as any totally sane person does.
Eventually finding her way back to her childhood love of writing, Rachel completed the UCLA Professional Program in Writing for Television in 2018, with a focus on one-hour dramas. Her pilot scripts have placed in multiple festivals, including The Austin Film Festival, Slamdance, CineStory, and most recently as a Semifinalist for the Screencraft 2021 TV Pilot Competition.
